Oracle and HMS Software extend their technical alliance for a 20th year
Montreal, April 19, 2017 – HMS Software, publishers of TimeControl, one of the world's most popular timesheet systems announced today that HMS and Oracle have renewed their technical alliance for a twentieth consecutive year. Oracle has named HMS as a Gold Partner for the 2017-2018 season.
“Our partnership with Oracle started from two very different directions, “explains Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. “In 1997, HMS became a Primavera Alliance program to enable us to link TimeControl with Primavera. Oracle would ultimately purchase Primavera. Also in 1997, HMS became a technical partner with Oracle to enable HMS to best support TimeControl clients using the Oracle database or linking to Oracle financial products. The resulting relationships are extensive and deep between our firms.”
HMS supports numerous Oracle technology streams including the MySQL and Oracle databases, links with Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards and, of course, Oracle-Primavera. The Oracle and HMS technical teams regularly work together to support their mutual clients.
“The support we’re able to give our TimeControl clients would be impossible without the relationship we have with Oracle,” explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, “HMS Software’s Director of Technical Services. “On a regular basis we communicate with different elements of the Oracle technical team to make sure that TimeControl is able to take advantage of the best practices and functionality that Oracle provides.”
The Oracle Partner program enables software publishers such as HMS to work directly with Oracle to more effectively bring products and services to each other's clients. This allows both HMS and Oracle to offer clients combinations of functionality, architecture and subject matter expertise that delivers richer, more functional, and more secure solutions. Being an Oracle Gold Partner has provided HMS with access to Oracle technology and expertise that ensures that TimeControl is able to support Oracle products as soon as they are released.
TimeControl’s bi-direction link with Oracle-Primavera supports both Primavera Professional and Oracle-Primavera EPPM It provides financial quality timesheet and costing data to Primavera for task updating and Finance modules such as Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft or JD Edwards for elements such as payroll, HR, job costing and, invoicing. Using TimeControl with Primavera means that the organization can use a single timesheet entry for multiple purposes.
The link between TimeControl and Oracle Primavera is highly adaptive, allowing for project, task, resource, and assignment information to be moved from the project management system to the timesheet system and actual hours, costs, task progress and even steps to move from TimeControl back to Oracle Primavera. The link also supports moving TimeControl’s expense and non-labor costs back to Primavera.
Some of TimeControl's value-added benefits when linking with Oracle-Primavera include: multiple rates per employee, automated business rule validations, automated workflow, missing timesheet notification, expense and non-labor cost tracking, simultaneous support for multiple versions of Oracle Primavera, both a browser and mobile/tablet interface and matrix timesheet approvals with HMS's unique Matrix Approval Process for Labor Actuals™. This process allows project managers to be able to approve hours task-by-task and departmental supervisors to approve hours and costs with an unlimited number of approval levels.
TimeControl's Industrial version also includes crew timesheets and field-data-collection capabilities to update Primavera and Finance with material consumption, equipment usage and even production accomplished information. This information is also linked with Primavera to provide both labor and non-labor costs to the project management system.
"Twenty years of technical partnership in this industry is a remarkable accomplishment,” says Vandersluis. “This multi-decade relationship with Oracle is something we are very proud of. While it has certainly been a win-win for both our firms, the big winners are our mutual clients. "
